If you have a weak WiFi signal on your school or home computers, you only have a few options. First you could move your computers closer, but this isn’t always possible depending on the space in your school or home.
Secondly, you could go out and buy a Wireless Antenna. A decent wifi booster costs anywhere from $15-150 or more or less Php 6,000.00. This is generally not a bad option but doesn’t always solve the problem. Why buying wifi booster in that price if I can make an improvised one? Now, our school has homemade wifi boosters such as C shape and umbrella wifi boosters. These are made of cartoons, aluminum foil, solid wires, and aluminum in can. These are rarely installed in the Dalaguete secondary schools. The principal, Mr. Ramon M. Cortes suggested that these improvised wifi boosters should be modified by students for their science experiments.
The usual wireless signal of a router has an average of 20-25 meter radius. When I’ve tried my homemade wifi boosters, I found that the signal increased to 180 meter radius. As of now, our school has three improvised Wifi boosters: two at the Computer Lab; and one at the Science Lab.
Our school has 6 wireless routers installed in the different buildings: three of them are free Wifi connection and another three routers which have security passphrases just to regulate internet access in school.
